rates as master data.

typeidentifiesthecharacteristicsandpropertiesofacondition.

Forthisconditiontype,thesystemdeterminestheassignedaccesssequence.

Thesystemreadstheaccesssequence. Inthesequence,theconditiontablesare

accessedatleastonce. Thesequenceoftheconditiontablesrepresentsthesearch

strategytodeterminethecorrespondingconditionrecord.

The system searches for valid condition records for the condition tables

(accesses). A condition record contains the actual shipment rates. If no valid

condition record exists for the first condition table, the system searches for

condition records for the second table.

Whenthesystemfindsavalidconditionrecordforaconditiontable,thecondition

record is read and the corresponding value is transferred to the shipment cost

document.

The system repeats all of these steps for each condition type until the entire

pricing procedure is processed.

conditions manually and spcifically.

Youcandefineconditionsatanylevel. Alevelcorrespondstothefieldsinthe

condition table in which a condition record is stored. The level therefore also

representsthekeyfieldsfortheaccesstoacondition.

Commonlevelsatwhichpriceagreementsaremadearepredefinedinthestandard

system.

Youcansimplyaddanylevelsthatyoumayneedadditionally. Thusyoucanmake

conditionsdependentonanyfieldsofabusinessdocument.

Byspecifyingavalidityperiod,youcanrestrictaconditiontoaspecificperiod.

Youcanmaintainthevalueswithinaconditionrecord(price,surcharge,discount)

dependingonascale(weight-based,volume-basedorvalue-basedscale). Youcan

to change a pricing element manually that is determined automatically by the

system only within the limits specified.

Thecalculationbasedeterminestheoriginofthedatathatisusedduringpricing

asabasisfortheconditiontype. Italsodetermineswhichinformationisavailable

for determining the prices. For all calculation bases, the information from the

shipmentheaderand possiblytheshipment stageandtheshipmentcost itemis

available. The calculation base alsodefineshowthescalebases such as gross

weight, net weight, and volume are calculated. If you use the delivery item as

thecalculationbase,forexample, informationfromthedeliveryheaderandthe

deliveryitemsisavailable,butnotfromtheshippingunits. Weightandvolume

only refer to the delivery item.

Whentheshipmentcostsarecalculated,thesystemdeterminestheshipmentcost

sub-itemsfromthedifferentcalculationbasesoftheconditiontypesincludedina

pricingprocedure. Thecalculationitselfisthencarriedoutforeachsub-item.

Hint: SAPrecommendsthatyouselectacalculationbasethatisonlyas

detailedasnecessary-forsystemloadandclarityreasons. Forexample,if

onlythetotalweightandthelegarerelevantforyou,theshipmentcost

itemistotallysufficientascalculationbasis. However,youcandistribute

thecostsonamoredetailedlevel. Costdistributiondoesnotdependon

thecalculationbase. Forexample,youcouldcalculatetheshipmentcosts

using the shipment cost item calculation base and distribute the costs

at delivery item level. The system distributes the costs proportionally

by weight.

Examples ofhowtouseindividual calculationbases:

• If only theleg and thetotal weight arerelevant for you, it is sufficient to

calculate the shipment costs at the shipment cost item level. This way

youprovidetransparency, sinceadditional datafromthedeliveriesor the

handling units is redundant.

• If the contracts that you have made with your forwarding agent specify

shipment cost calculation by wire cage pallet, use the handling units

calculation base. All weight and volume specifications then refer to the

handlingunits. With the“handling unit”(C)calculation base, asub-item

isgenerated for each handlingunit type(onesub-item with 30wirecage

pallets, for instance). If you would like to calculate costs per individual

handling unit (for packaging shipping, for example), select the E (“Per

HandlingUnit”)calculationbase. Thesystemthengeneratesasub-itemfor

each handling unit (20 sub-items for each package, for instance). If the

contentsofthehandlingunitisalsorelevantforcalculation,usecalculation

base F (“shipping unit including delivery item”). If you would like to

calculateshippingcostspership-toparty,butdonotneeddatafromdelivery

items, you canusetheDeliverycalculationbase.

• If you must consider several freight classes, divisions, or other material

informationwhencalculatingtheshipmentcosts,youneedthematerialdata

from thedeliveryitem andmustthereforecalculatethecostsby delivery

item.

The scales are defined asown master data- regardlessof the condition- and

can be assigned to several condition types. They have different scale bases,

for example, distance, gross or net weight, postal code, tariff zone, number of
