AC660 Lesson: Data Entry

Online Data Entry

Settings for online data entry

Explain the graphic in the following steps:

1. Data entry layouts

These contain the values to consolidate from the individual financial

statements(fordetails,seelatergraphic). Severaldataentrylayoutscanbe

assigned to a single data entry group.

2. Data entry group

Groups together the data entry layouts that are used for entering the

consolidationunitsand(whenapplicable)consolidationgroupswhen the

data entry profile is correct. Several data entry groups can use the same

data entry layouts.

3. Period category

Periodcategoriesareusedtogrouptogetherperiodsofafiscalyearthathave

thesamerequirementsfordataentryandconsolidationtasks.

Example:

Global entry of data for totals itemsin the months of January, February,

April, May, July, August, OctoberandNovember

Detailedentryofvalueitems: attheendofeachquarter

4. Financial data typeand consolidation unit

Financialdatatypesgrouptogetherthedifferentrequirementsfordegreeof

detail and object of the entry.

They are relevant for consolidation units and (where applicable)

consolidation groups whose reported data has been recorded in the SAP

system or via PC entry with MS Access.

Theyareassignedtotheconsolidationunits(orgroups)intheirmasterdata.

5. Data entry profile

Includesthefinancialdatatype,theperiodcategory,andthedataentrygroup.

Companies in a group often have different requirements concerning reported

financial data. For this reason, you can formulate different rules for each

Figure 32: Variable Scope of Reported Data

The scope of data to be reported by each consolidation unit can be flexibly

defined. In the example above, company 1 must enter the balance sheet and

income statement data in the period 6. Conversely, company 2 only needs to

enter the income statement data.
