Default Values

For every sub-assignment that you add, you can decide whether you want to

maintain default values.

On one hand these default values can make entry and posting easier: In the

breakdown category you can specify that the default value is written to a

sub-assignment,ifnovalueisenteredforthischaracteristic.

Characteristic Maintenance

You define new subasssignments in Characteristic Maintenance. There you

can refer to existing entities, by entering the data element belonging to it, the

You can extend the master data of the consolidation unit to include as many

user-defined attributesas youwant. These attributescanthen be used insome

Definition of custom characteristics:

• In the Consolidation database, you can add characteristics, which are

based on structures that already exist in the SAP system (for example,

region). Thenyoureceive alist of components, that let youmaintain the

characteristic values, and you can go to these IMG activities. For every

customsub-assignment,thatyoucreatewithanewvalidationtable,youcan

differences separately.

Figure23: sub-assignments oftheFinancialStatementItem

Along with the standard sub-assignments you can define your own

sub-assignmentsascharacteristicsandassignanitem.

For every account assignment you can define a breakdown type within a

breakdown category. When a sub-assignment is missing, the breakdown type

determineswhetheradefaultvalueisset. Youcandefinedefaultvaluesforthe

The business activities for recording data and performing consolidation steps

are called tasks.

A task is comparable to an algorithm that is used to model the business

consolidation process in the system.

This program contains information on the consolidation steps that have to be

performed prior to thetask, andcontainsaconsolidation function, likeonefor

currency translation, for example.

AC660 Lesson: Status Management

The requirement for a precisely defined sequence of tasks guarantees that the

correct consolidation values can be determined. The sequence is defined by

defaultinthetasks,andcanalsobeconfiguredbytheuser.

The status of the tasks performed here isrepresented by icons at the different

levels of the hierarchy.

Youcanperformthetasksineitheratestrunorapostingrun.

Theoverallstatusofthetasksperformedindatarecordingandconsolidationis

represented by a traffic light.

In this example, the merged data recording and consolidation monitor are

displayed(theclearing task isaconsolidationtask).

Hint: System documentation:

consolidation units in a dimension.

To ensure everything is calculated properly, the tasks have to be
