replenishment lead time.

Thereplenishmentleadtimecanbespecifiedforeachmaterial.

• Tradinggoods: planneddeliverytime+goodsreceiptprocessingtime,

• Finished goods: in-house production time.

The system assumes that the material will be available at the end of the

replenishment lead time by the latest.

Theavailabilitycheckisonlyrununtiltheendofthereplenishmentleadtime.

Ifyoucheckavailabilityincase4withoutincludingreplenishmentleadtime,the

resultisthesameasforcase2. Thecustomerrequiresacompletedelivery. You

cannot make 20 units available until the same date on which the last purchase

order for 60 unitsarrives(inward movement).

However,ifthesystemchecksavailabilityusingthereplenishmentleadtime,you

can confirm 20 units for the requested date.

Usingthe“Createshipment”function,thesystemdeterminesthedeliveriesdue

for transportationandcreatestheshipmentsrequired.

The individual deliveries can be assigned to the shipments manually. The

sequenceof the deliverieswithin ashipment isdetermined automatically from

the sequence in which they are listed.

Atthetimeofshipment,itemswhichwerenotalreadypackedinthedelivery,can

bepackedinshippingunitsusingshippingmaterials. Thefunctionalityusedhere

isbasically the same asfor loading in thedelivery. However, items cannot be

generatedorenteredmanuallyforinventorymanagement/billing.

Packeditemsareassignedtotherequiredmeansoftransport(trucks,forexample).

Shippingunitsfromthedeliveryarecopiedandcannolongerbechanged.

Unlike packing in the delivery, packing in the shipment can be carried out for

several deliveries.

Youcaninvoicethecustomer forshipmentcosts, whicharebased on effective

shipmentcosts,thathavebeencalculatedinthetransportationandshipmentcost

processingareasforsettlementwiththeforwardingagent. Thefreightcoststhen

Business Example

Althoughyouareabletodeliverthecompletequantityontherequesteddelivery

date,thecustomeronlywantstoreceivepartofthedeliveryatthispoint.

As there are other customer outbound deliveries to make on the day that the

deliveryisdue,whichareonroutetothisparticularcustomer,youcanputseveral

outbound deliveries together in one shipment.

After theprocesshasbeencompletedandtheinvoicesarecreated, youwantto

ensurethattherightaccountshavebeenpostedinaccounting.
