Purpose
The purpose of this page is to clarify how to deal with Valuated Special Stocks inconsistencies.
Overview
Below sections describe the main valuation tables for special stock, the valuation indicator definition and how to identify inconsistencies related to this topic.
What are the valuated special stocks?
Valuation table: MBEW
Stock tables: MARC (header/plant level) and MARD (Item/storage location level)
Valuation tables: MBEW or EBEW
Stock tables: MSSA (header/plant level) and MSKA (Item/storage location level)
Valuation tables: MBEW or QBEW
Stock tables: MSSQ (header/plant level) and MSPR (Item/storage location level)
Valuation tables: MBEW
Stock tables: MSKU
Valuation tables: MBEW
Stock tables: MSLB (header/plant level) and MSSL (Item/storage location level)
Which determines the value stock table?
There is an indicator (KZBWS) which will determine in which table the value should be stored.
KZBWS = blank (no stock valuation)
KZBWS = M (valuation with reference to the special stock)
The customer has the possibility to value the special stock with a separate valuation price and stock account. This means that you can control the costs for each Material in the stock for a sales order or project separately. The stock is valued this way, if the indicator has the value M.
KZBWS = A (valuation without reference to the special stock)
It is also possible to value the sales stock with the other storage location stock. This means that the stock is sales order stock from a MRP point of view but 'normal' stock from a stock valuation point of view. You have to adjust the valuation of special stock indicator to A to achieve this behavior (This is not supported for project stock).
It is not possible to have indicator ‘A’ for Project stock (Q).
OBEW table is just used for Japanese customers.
What are the relevant check-reports to analyze an inconsistency for valuated special stocks?
There are also Check-reports to identify/fix inconsistencies in the database tables which stores special stock valuation data:
MBCKMSSA: Stock analysis for Sales Order Stock
MBCKMSSQ: Stock analysis for Project Stock
MBMSSACO: Stock correction for Sales Order Stock (see details in the SAP Note 661856)
MBMSSQCO: Stock correction for Project Stock (see details in the SAP Note 661856)
What are the relevant SAP Notes related to valuated special stock?
Note 661856
If error message M7 242 (Valuation control in material master and special stock differs) is being raised and MBQUANT is cleared, special stock correction should be done by customer.
If error message M7 242 is being raised and MBQUANT is displaying differences Development Team from SAP should fix this issue.
Notes 1308429 and 1368870
It refers to errors (see below know bugs) caused by the customer when changing the requirement type into the Sales Order document, after the database tables were already populated.
What are the Known bugs?
It is possible to create differences between VBAP-KBZWS and MSSA-KZBWS via VA02 (changes VBAP-KZBWS). SD process doesn't want to restrict this and usually such differences can be corrected as mentioned in SAP Note 661856.
How to recognize the valuated special stock indicator (KZBWS)?
Display Sales Order (VA03) and check the requirement type and requirement class and then go to OVZG/OVZH to see the respective valuation indicator (KZBWS).
OVZH - Requirement Types
OVZG - Requirement Classes

Symptom
You post a goods movement with sales order special stock (SOBKZ = E) or
project special stock (SOBKZ = Q). The system issues error me
ssage M7 242: "Valuation control in material master and special stock
differs". Even if you have customized this message as a warning
message, the system issues it as an error message.
Reason and Prerequisites
In your system, there are special stocks with an incorrect valuation
indicator (KZBWS). In these stocks, the valuation in the material
master (MSSA-KZBWS in sales order stock or MSSQ-KZBWS in project stock)
is different to the valuation entered from the sales order (V
BAP-KZBWS) or project (PSPR-KZBWS). The system always issues message M7
242 as an error during goods movements for the production ord
er, purchase order, or transfer posting. This is to prevent
inconsistencies.
Solution
The special stock can only be repaired by a goods movement without
reference; for example, with the movement type 562/ 561, 502/ 501,
551/ 552 and so on, with the relevant special stock indicator (E or Q).
Proceed as follows to correct the affected sales order stock or project
1. Completely book out the affected special stock; that is, all batches
of all storage locations. For this purpose, you must set messa
ge M7 242 as a warning.
2. Correct the valuation indicator using the report MBMSSQCO (for
project stock) or the report MBMSSACO (for sales order stock), which
are included in Note 32236.
